Clothing Closet

"I needed clothes and you clothed me…" Matthew 25:36.

We are called to love our neighbors and to help them when we have the means.

Through our mission, we have the means to provide clean, dry, warm clothing to all in need.

The Clothing Closet is located in the lower level of the First Lutheran Church and is staffed by volunteers from the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood and from other churches in the Cincinnati area. Its operating hours are each Monday from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM except the last Monday of the month.

Our neighbors are invited to come in and browse the tables and racks of clothing and take what they need. Volunteers are standing by if assistance is needed. Some high demand items such as underwear, men's pants, and hygiene kits are controlled and are available over the counter.

The Clothing Closet receives all items through donations. Since we serve from 50 to 100 persons each day, there is always a constant need for more. All items are accepted, but of particular need are men's work pants, underwear, socks, coats, and hygiene products like soap, toothpaste, skin lotion, and deodorant.

If you wish to become a part of our mission by donating or volunteering, stop by any Monday morning and check us out.

We have a great need for donations of clothing, shoes/boots, socks, new/like-new underwear--the greatest need if for men's clothing.

Winter is upon us so we will be in great need of new or lightly uses jackets and coats.

Toiletries

We accept new toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, deodorant, soap, etc. Those little hotel-sized bottles are great. Also, we need feminine hygiene products!

Household Items

Blankets, clean sheets/pillowcases, like-new pillows.
