Welcome to First Lutheran Church's website! We are a diverse Lutheran faith community with a rich history of endurance in an ever-evolving, unique neighborhood in downtown Cincinnati.
We are located across the street from Washington Park, within sight of Music Hall and the construction of the new, much-anticipated School for the Creative and Performing Arts. Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati are institutions of higher learning just a neighborhood away.
Our historic building, within which we actively worship and carry out our mission in a challenged neighborhood, was built in 1895. The original pipe organ, stained glass and rich woods enhance our sanctuary experience.
Worship services are easy to follow with a worship folder and the new "red book," the Lutheran hymnal, Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) . Most often, piano accompanies our singing. Each week, all baptized Christians are invited to join us in receiving the Lord and His gifts of forgiveness and salvation in Holy Communion. Children's Church, for children ages 4-12, is offered during a portion of the service in the months of the school year.
Being a mission-minded congregation in a needy community, we, and those whom we serve, are bolstered by a broad range of ecumenical volunteer and financial support from friends around the Cincinnati area and beyond.
Whether you are seeking a faith community to join, or just wanting a solid, liturgical worship experience while visiting Cincinnati, we welcome your presence with us!
